The 1st Edition of Uganda Real Estate and Housing Expo – UREHE 2025

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, in partnership with Douglas Events Ltd, the Uganda Society of Architects (USA), and the Surveyors Registration Board (SRB), is proud to announce the 1st Edition of the Uganda Real Estate and Housing Expo (UREHE) 2025.

The event will take place from 26th–28th September 2025 at Kati Kati Grounds, Lugogo, under the theme:

“Resilient by Design, Affordable by Intent: Shaping the Future of Real Estate.”

This landmark Expo will bring together government leaders, investors, developers, and innovators to shape the future of Uganda’s real estate and housing sector.

Industry Support & Collaboration

UREHE 2025 enjoys strong support from industry players, including:

  • Uganda National Association of Builders, Suppliers, and Engineering Contractors (UNABSEC)
  • Interior Designers Association of Uganda (IDAU)
  • Association of Real Estate Agents Uganda (AREA Uganda)
  • Buganda Land Board (BLB)
  • Global Institute of Property Studies (GIPS)

This coalition demonstrates the Expo’s mission to build bridges between Government, Private sector, and Development Partners, focusing on:

Key Highlights

1. High-Level Conference (26th September 2025)

Hosted at Kati Kati Murchison Hall, the full-day conference will feature thought-provoking discussions on:

  • The PropTech Revolution: Digital innovation in Uganda’s real estate market
  • Diaspora Capital & Collective Investment: New housing finance models
  • Green, Yet Accessible: Balancing sustainability with affordability
  • Government Policies & Regulatory Frameworks
  • From Slums to Sustainable Communities
  • Real Estate Investment & Market Trends in Uganda

Guest of Honour: Hon. Persis Namuganza, Minister of State for Housing, will officially open the conference.

2. Expo Exhibition (26th–28th September 2025)

The three-day exhibition will feature over 300 exhibitors from East Africa, showcasing innovations in:

  • Sustainable Construction & Innovation – green building techniques, eco-friendly materials, PropTech, and resilient design.
  • Affordable Housing & Urban Development – scalable housing models, strategic land-use planning, and inclusive urbanization.
  • Finance & Investment – innovative financing models, REITs, and property management strategies.
  • Policy & Professional Services – legal expertise, consultancy, and professional associations.
  • Hospitality & Lifestyle – interior design, furniture, and mixed-use developments.
  • Smart Living Technologies – AI-powered home automation, solar energy solutions, and water harvesting systems.

The Expo expects 6,000+ visitors, including developers, financiers, architects, policymakers, and the general public.

Why Participate?

Uganda’s real estate sector contributes significantly to economic growth, accounting for 11% of GDP with construction activity valued at UGX 2.6 trillion (2023/24). Yet, challenges remain in:

  • Housing affordability and supply gaps
  • Rapid urbanization (5.7% annual growth rate)
  • Climate-resilient infrastructure demands

The Expo will provide a platform for public-private partnerships, investor matchmaking, and regional market visibility, while showcasing Uganda as a destination for real estate growth and innovation.

The UREHE 2025 Conference is limited to 200 participants only. Early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.

In her official communication, Mrs. Dorcus W. Okalany, Permanent Secretary, emphasized that the Expo will play a central role in fostering strategic partnerships to guide Uganda’s urban development sector into the future.
